Challenger Filter Specs

Dependable and easy to service, the Challenger
is Fluidart’s® best-selling filter. This efficient bead filter is
produced in five sizes to fit ponds up to 20,000 gallons.

Advantages include its tough fiberglass tank,
side-mounted multiport valve, and ease of installation
and maintenance. No need to disconnect plumbing to
access and service internal components.

The unique Hydra-Swirl design allows solids to be spun
to the center of the vessel where they stay until the
sludge drain is opened. Through the multiport valve, the
pump delivers a thorough backwash and rinse. With the
drain open and the pump running, solids are purged
under pressure, fully removing waste in a few seconds.

For backwash the Challenger series utilizes Hydra-
Thrust bead agitation, using forced air to agitate the
beads and free up trapped debris.

Other features:
  • Pressurized filter
  • Designed for minimal flow restriction.
  • Two-inch plumbing throughout.
  • 500-550 sqare feet of surface area per sqare foot of media.
  • Can be used with or without a pre-filter.

Cutaway shows Challenger Filter’s
internals. Inlet laterals (bottom pipe)
bring in pond water to be circulated
through the filter’s bead pack. Unique
Fluidart® Hydra Swirl fitting on inlet
laterals keeps any solids suspended
in circulating water until being flushed
out through the sludge drain (lower
right). Filtered water is returned to the
pond through laterals at top. The
multiport valve attaches on the right.
